Kathiyawadi Khadi

Kadhi is a yogurt based side dish found on every Gujarati menu.  We tend to put kadhi into the comfort food category since it is most commonly served with rice. I think this recipe will definitely make it into your weekly or even daily rotation thanks to how delicious and easy it is in your instant pot.


  1. In a mixing bowl, add yogurt, chickpea flour (besan) water, salt, chilies, ginger

  2. Using a hand blender or whisk, mix well

  3. Turn on the Instant Pot to SAUTE mode

  4. Wait until the display reads “HOT”

  5. Add oil to the pot

  6. Add the cumin seeds

  7. Allow the seeds to splutter

  8. Add the curry leaves and close with a glass lid

  9. Allow to cook in oil for 1 minute

  10. Pour the yogurt mixture into the Instant Pot

  11. Close the Instant Pot

  12. Turn the vent to sealing to prevent steam from escaping

  13. Press CANCEL on the Instant Pot

  14. Press SOUP mode on the Instant Pot

  15. Set timer to 5 minutes

  16. Once the timer goes off, allow the pressure to release naturally, about 7 to 10 mins

  17. After few 7 to 10 mins manually release the steam by opening the vent

  18. The silver prong will drop back into the lid. BE CAREFUL OF THE HOT STEAM

  19. Press CANCEL on the Instant Pot and serve with your favorite sabzi, roti or just rice.
